IndexChex index checker

Published · By IndexChex

IndexChex is a backlink indexer and bulk Google index checker that submits URLs for Googlebot crawling and verifies indexation in one credit system. Its checker tests each URL with four Google query forms, costs 1 credit per URL, handles up to 10,000 URLs per job and exports results to CSV.

Overview

The IndexChex index checker answers one question for each URL in a list: does Google return this page in search? It is part of IndexChex, which also sells URL submission, and it is built for people checking URLs on sites they do not control, chiefly backlinks and citations. Because it relies on public search rather than Search Console, it needs no ownership or verification of the checked sites.

This handbook is published by IndexChex. The page below describes the checker factually; the method pages, such as how to check if a URL is indexed, apply to any tool.

How a check works

Each URL is looked up against live Google results using four query forms:

Query formExampleWhy it is included
Bare URLexample.com/pagePlain search for the address
Quoted URL"example.com/page"Exact-match lookup
site:site:example.com/pageGoogle's documented URL-scoped operator
inurl:inurl:example.com/pageMatches the address within indexed URLs

A URL that appears for any of the four is counted as indexed. The reasoning is the one set out on the site: accuracy page: Google states that site: does not necessarily list every indexed URL, so relying on it alone produces false negatives. The inurl: and quoted-URL page explains what the other forms add.

Jobs, cost and output

  • Cost: 1 credit per URL checked, whether the result is indexed or not.
  • Batch size: up to 10,000 URLs per job.
  • Export: results download as CSV, so they can be joined to a link tracking sheet.
  • API: check jobs can be created and read through the IndexChex REST API, covered in general terms on index checking via API.

Credits are shared with submission. Monthly plans start at $19.99 for 5,000 credits and one-time packs at $21.99 for 5,000; full pricing is on the IndexChex pricing page. There is no free trial. At those prices a check costs between $0.0014 and $0.0044 per URL depending on the plan or pack.

Scheduled re-checks and resubmission

The checker is tied to the submission side of the product. When URLs are submitted for crawling, a re-check can be scheduled 1 to 5 days later. The credits for the re-check (1 per URL) are reserved when the submission is created and refunded if the re-check is cancelled. A scheduled re-check cannot be combined with drip-feed submission on the same job.

From any check result, URLs that came back not indexed can be sent to a new submission in one click. That shortens the loop described in from index check to resubmission: check, isolate the misses, resubmit, check again. Submission itself guarantees that Googlebot crawls the URL, not that Google indexes it.

Measured accuracy

IndexChex measures its checker weekly on recurring URL sets. As of October 2026 that measurement puts the checker at about 96% accurate on average. It is an average, not a per-URL guarantee. The remaining disagreements come from sources described on why index checks disagree, such as canonical substitution and results Google serves inconsistently. How accuracy is defined, and what any query-based tool can and cannot see, is on index checker accuracy.

Typical uses

  • Verifying a backlink campaign before paying for, or chasing, more links. See checking backlink indexation.
  • Confirming the outcome of an indexing submission, which is where bulk index checking and the scheduled re-check meet.
  • Auditing large lists of pages on sites without Search Console access, where the URL Inspection API is not available.

Limits

The checker reports what Google search returns at the time of the check. It does not explain why a URL is missing; Search Console's URL Inspection tool does that for verified owners. A result is a snapshot, and indexation can change in either direction afterwards, so long-lived lists benefit from periodic re-checks. Wider context on the product is in the IndexChex reference entry.

FAQ

How does IndexChex decide a URL is indexed?

It searches Google for the bare URL, the quoted URL, site: plus the URL and inurl: plus the URL. If any of the four returns the page, the URL is counted as indexed.

How much does an IndexChex index check cost?

1 credit per URL. Credits come from monthly plans starting at $19.99 for 5,000 or one-time packs starting at $21.99 for 5,000. There is no free trial.

Can IndexChex re-check URLs automatically?

Yes. When submitting URLs for indexing, a re-check can be scheduled for 1 to 5 days later at 1 credit per URL, reserved up front and refunded if cancelled. It cannot be combined with drip-feed submission on the same job.

Does the checker need Search Console access?

No. It works from public Google results, so it can check backlinks and pages on sites you do not own.
